The FIAT/IFTA World Conference 2024 took place on October 15th – 18th. Over 200 attendees joined FIAT/IFTA in Bucharest, Romania, for its 48th conference under the theme Don’t Believe Me? Just Watch!

The FIAT/IFTA Office shared a selection of pictures from the World Conference with our participants via email for them to download.

We’ve also curated a small selection of pictures from the conference for those who couldn’t join us!

FIAT/IFTA’s three-day conference had over 50 sessions comprised of presentations and panel discussions. The conference also counted with a pre-conference day, with FIAT/IFTA Commission meetings and workshops.

Our Keynote sessions were given by:

• Dana Mustata, University of Groningen.
• Anda Iorga, Representative of the Ministry of Researh, Innovation and Digitalization.

The FIAT/IFTA Archive Achievement Awards ceremony occurred on the Thursday, October 17th, evening at the Bragadiru Palace. During the event, the FIAT/IFTA community celebrated the achievements of our colleagues.

The 2024 award winners were:

• Excellence in Media Management: A+E Networks Showcase by TMT Insights.
• Excellence in Media Preservation: Safeguarding Afghan AV Heritage by INA.
• Excellence in Unlocking the Value and Potential of Archives: Our Strategic Journey to Connect With a Diverse Audience by Radio Canada.
• Excellence in Archive Production: Godforsaken by VRT.

On the final night of the FIAT/IFTA World Conference, the FIAT/IFTA President, Virginia Bazán-Gil, shared with the attendees of the conference the location of next year’s World Conference.

We are proud to announce that the FIAT/IFTA World Conference 2025 will take place in Rome, Italy, with the support of our host, Cinecittà.
