International Women’s Day 2025

Celebrating Women in Audiovisual Archives

International Women's Day 2025

FIAT/IFTA proudly celebrates the remarkable women who shape and lead our organization. This year marks a historic milestone as our Executive Council is now led by three remarkable women: Virginia Bazán-Gil as President, Karin Van Arkel as General Secretary, and Delphine Wibaux as Vice-President. Their leadership reflects FIAT/IFTA’s commitment to encouraging inclusivity, innovation, and collaboration in the audiovisual archiving community.

To mark International Women’s Day 2025, we are launching a special initiative to highlight contributions of women in audiovisual archiving and media preservation.

Join Us in Showcasing Women’s Impact on Archives

This month, we invite FIAT/IFTA members and the broader audiovisual archiving community to take part in this celebration by:

  • Spotlighting Pioneering Women – Share stories of women who have made a lasting impact on audiovisual archiving.
  • Showcasing Women’s Contributions to Media History – Do you have archived footage, interviews, or projects that highlight women’s roles in media? We’d love to see them!
  • Amplifying Your Work – If your organization is running a special initiative for Women’s Month, let us know!
How to Participate
  • Share your stories, clips, or ongoing projects with us at network@fiatifta.org or send us a message through social media. We will help spread the word through our FIAT/IFTA network and social media channels throughout the whole month of March.
  • Use the hashtag #WomenInArchives to share on social media and be part of the global conversation.
We look forward to highlighting your contributions!
