Shape the Federation’s Next Chapter

The FIAT/IFTA General Assembly, the Federation’s highest governing body, will take place during the 2026 World Conference in São Paulo.
The General Assembly meets every two years and is responsible for approving the Federation’s activity report, financial accounts, programme of activities and budget, as well as deciding on membership fees and the location of the next General Assembly. It also oversees the renewal of the Executive Council and, when applicable, the election of the President.
The General Assembly also includes the partial renewal of the Executive Council. In accordance with the FIAT/IFTA Statutes, up to half of the Council’s members are renewed at each ordinary General Assembly. Executive Council members are elected by secret ballot from among Full Member organisations for a four-year term and may stand for re-election.
Every Full Member organisation is entitled to one vote in the General Assembly, reflecting the Federation’s commitment to democratic governance and active member participation. All members in good standing are invited to attend and take part in the discussion.
The General Assembly is an opportunity not only to fulfill the Federation’s statutory responsibilities but also to discuss priorities, strengthen international collaboration and contribute to the future direction of the global media archive community.
We encourage all members to participate and help shape the next stage of FIAT/IFTA’s development.
Further communications will follow with details on the voting system and the opening of candidatures for the Executive Council elections.
