Revisiting Archival Narratives: The Influence of Women News Anchors on Gender Discourse in the Genesis of Pakistani Television
by Dr. Rabia Noor, Beaconhouse National University
This project investigates the influential yet understudied role of early women news anchors in shaping gender discourse during the formative years of Pakistani television. Using archival footage and documents from Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV), the study seeks to reconstruct the narratives of women who navigated and negotiated visibility within a male-dominated broadcast environment.
Echoes of Change: Unveiling the Climate Crisis through Historical Narratives in Television Archives of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA)
by Dr. Peter I. Ugondo (Taraba State University) & Patience Achakpa-Ikyo (National Open University of Nigeria)
The study explores how the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has represented and preserved environmental and climate change narratives from the 1980s to 2025. It positions NTA’s archive not merely as a storage facility but as a communicative system through which Nigeria has seen, narrated, and sometimes forgotten its climate history.
