FIAT/IFTA proudly granted its support to the International Conference on Audio-visual Archiving and Preservation – Africa 2023 on June 7th & 8th.

The conference convened under the Preserve Africa Archive (PAA) programme and was organized by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) and Apricity Consulting at the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Around 100 archivists, practitioners, preservation professionals, curators, content creators, scholars, policymakers and strategists discussed the challenges and opportunities concerning Africa’s audiovisual heritage online and on-site.

FIAT/IFTA was represented by its president Brecht Declercq, thus confirming its enduring commitment to supporting and developing the African media archiving landscape in general and FIAT/IFTA members in the region in particular.
