Don’t forget to submit your project before Monday, April 3rd!

In 2023, FIAT/IFTA’s Media Studies Commission is looking to commission small-scale research projects that help us understand audiovisual archives in the context of current societal challenges. We are particularly interested in archive-based research on sustainability, environmentalism, postcolonialism and digitalisation practices. Projects outside these thematic areas of focus, which address other urgent issues related to audiovisual archives and/or propose innovative research into specific archival collections, are welcome.

  • Candidates must send their application in PDF format by April 3rd.

This can be in the form of an audiovisual essay, interactive digital story, creative demo, etc. (depending on the nature of the proposed project). Please ensure there are no copyright restrictions for the archival material you may want to reuse in this output type.
  • All output needs to mention the support of FIAT/IFTA and should be made available to FIAT/IFTA. In addition, successful candidates must present their research results at the FIAT/IFTA World Conference in Locarno, Switzerland, on 17-20 October 2023.
