On 23 October the FIAT/IFTA Executive Council met for the last time in its current composition. The mandate of the current President Bríd Dooley (RTÉ) comes to an end, together with that of six Executive Council members.
The Council thanked the outgoing President for her commitment in the past four years, and expressions of gratefulness were also extended to Patricia Sweeney who assisted the Executive Council from the FIAT/IFTA Office. The Council also thanked Rita Marques (TV Cultura), Dorothy Donnan (Al Arabiya) and Theo Mäusli (SRG-SSR), and especially FIAT/IFTA Vice President Jacqui Gupta (BBC), who leaves the Executive Council after 8 years and an enduring commitment to the federation of more than 20 years. Also Giorgio Balocco (RAI), Laurent Boch (RAI), Maria Drabczyk (FINA) and Vicky Plaine (BBC) were thanked for their efforts as co-opted members.
To see who stands for election to become the new Executive Council members and the new FIAT/IFTA President, we’ll have to await the next General Assembly on 27 October. If there are more candidates than open positions an election will be held. If not, candidates are elected by acclamation.
