Survey to map endangered video collections: new deadline!
Analog video collections are amongst the most threatened heritage collections because of the combination of the degradation of the carriers and the obsolescence of their playback technology, including the scarcity of devices and spare parts and the diminishing knowledge about how to use and repair the players.
INA together with EBU and FIAT/IFTA envisions to develop a dedicated, itinerant training program about how to cope especially with endangered analog video collections for European professionals. The programme will consist of several workshops, each one dedicated to a specific video format. This initiative follows a 4-day training session dedicated to Quadruplex 2-inch videotapes digitization organized by INA at the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), in March 2019.
To map the exact needs in the field, INA together with EBU and FIAT/IFTA have launched a short survey. Filling it out with the figures about your collection will be of great help to compose a relevant programme. The new deadline for this survey is 27 April.
