Changes in the FIAT/IFTA Executive Council
The FIAT/IFTA Executive Council (EC) partially renews through elections every two years. The last elections took place during the General Assembly at the World Conference in Venice in 2018 and the next round is scheduled at the 2020 World Conference in Dublin. However, also in between these elections the composition of the Executive Council sometimes can undergo slight changes.
Roberto Rossetto (RAI) steps down from the Executive Council
At the EC meeting right before the World Conference in Dubrovnik, Roberto Rossetto (RAI) announced that he would step down as an Executive Council member after almost 17 years, due to his imminent retirement at RAI. Roberto Rossetto has been active within several FIAT/IFTA Commissions since the late nineties. He officially joined the Council as a co-opted member on 12 January 2001 at the 71st meeting of the Executive Council in London. On 16 October 2002 he became an elected member during the General Assembly at the World Conference in Antalya, for a first term until October 2006. After a break of two years, he was re-elected on the Executive Council during the World Conference in Copenhagen, assuming the role of Treasurer succeeding to Wolfgang Dehn (SWR). Re-elected in 2012 (London) and 2016 (Warsaw), he kept on managing FIAT/IFTA’s accounts until 2017 when he handed over this role to Daniel Teruggi (INA). The Executive Council unanimously thanked Roberto for his many years of dedication and in particular for the accuracy with which he has fulfilled the role of Treasurer for almost 10 years.
Laurent Boch and Giorgio Balocco (RAI) co-opted
At the same Dubrovnik meeting the Executive Council decided to co-opt Giorgio Balocco and Laurent Boch until the next Executive Council elections in 2020. Operating from Turin, Giorgio Balocco is responsible for the technical programmes of the archives of RAI. Laurent Boch has a strong track record as a researcher and project lead in many archival projects at RAI’s R&D department (CRITS). Within FIAT/IFTA he’s a long standing member of the Preservation and Migration Commission, of which he took over the Chair in September 2019, in collaboration with Etienne Marchand (INA).
