One member of the Mexico conference organising committee received a very special round of applause: Daniel Teruggi, FIAT/IFTA Secretary-General since 2014. For Daniel Mexico was his last FIAT/IFTA conference as a Secretary-General as he retires from his role at INA. Although he stays on as a FIAT/IFTA Treasurer until a successor is appointed, we’d like to express our profound gratitude for the enormous amount of work he has done in his long and fruitful career, not only for FIAT/IFTA, but for the global audiovisual heritage world. Daniel’s retirement from his FIAT/IFTA role also means that the Executive Council had to appoint a new Secretary-General. Since November 1st, Brecht Declercq takes up this task. Brecht works as the Digitisation Manager at VIAA in Belgium. He’s involved with FIAT/IFTA activities since 2011 and has been working as a Media Management Commission member and a Chair of the Preservation and Migration Commission. Together with president Bríd Dooley, Treasurer Daniel Teruggi and the rest of the Executive Council he’ll put his best efforts into administering the federation.
