The FIAT/IFTA World Conference 2017 has kicked off in Mexico City!
More than 100 audiovisual archives specialists from all over the world are gathering in the historical city centre to meet and greet, exchange experiences, show results, witness about exciting projects and celebrate the value of their collections. Following a long standing tradition the pre-conference day included meetings of the FIAT/IFTA Commissions and two very interesting workshops: one about mass video digitisation and the other about future perspectives for the audiovisual archiving field.
Not less traditional, the official opening evening hosted a reception at a prestigious location, the marvellous Museum of Memory and Tolerance.
Following speeches by FIAT/IFTA President Bríd Dooley and conference hosts Ernesto Briseño representing the Fonoteca Nacional, TV UNAM and SPR, special attention was given to FIAT/IFTA’s 40th birthday, with a clip featuring several heroes of the history of the federation. Last but not least, all nine nominees of the FIAT/IFTA Archive Achievement Awards were called on stage for a first glimpse of their projects. The announcement of the winners will follow on Friday eve.
On Thursday the conference continues with a series of keynotes, presentations and workshops at the Fiesta Inn Hotel.
