The excitement is building – who will be the winners at the 14th FOCAL International Awards celebrating all that is best in the footage and commercial audio-visual industry?
Putting Footage in the Spotlight…
Finalists for the 14th annual FOCAL International Awards include some of the highest-profile productions released around the world in 2016 including Ron Howard’s crowd-pleaser, The Beatles: Eight Days a Week – The Touring Years; Werner Herzog’s other worldly Into the Inferno; O.J.: Made in America; and restoration of Abel Gance’s masterpiece epic, Napoleon.
Set to take place on 25th May, 2017 at the Lancaster London Hotel, the FOCAL International Awards recognise producers, directors, researchers and other creative media professionals for excellence in the use and preservation of stock and archival footage.
Sixteen awards will be presented in total, including the Lifetime Achievement Award, won this year by pioneering producer-director Serge Viallet. In a career spanning almost thirty years, Serge has worked with multiple archives across the world on many award-winning and meticulously crafted documentaries. He has been lecturing on archive documentation, research and use in film at Sorbonne University since 2012.
