The National Audiovisual Institute (NInA ) is a public cultural institution established to digitize, share and promote the Polish audiovisual heritage. It’s statutory mission is to collect, archive, reconstruct and facilitate dissemination of the most valuable manifestations of film, music and theatre culture. NInA runs projects harnessing the power of the Internet and addressed to a wide audience, such as multimedia library NINATEKA.PL. The Institute is involved in initiatives focused on new media, culture 2.0, media education and research.
The Institute is known best for its Polish School of Documentary DVD collection, internet projects such as online audio and video archives of ninateka.pl or threecomposers.pl (nominated for FIAT/IFTA Award 2014), broad educational activity and publishing of born digital magazine dwutygodnik.com (English version available: biweekly.pl). In 2011 we were responsible for a 6-months cultural programme of the Polish Presidency in EU Council, within the 4 days European Culture Congress.
Since May 2015 the Institute runs year round cultural programme in its cutting-edge audiovisual center in Poland, that has recently opened its doors to the public. A high-tech multifunction auditorium ready for 4K screenings, concerts, and theatre plays, a mediatheque with a rich collection of unique audiovisual materials.
