In March, Virginia Bazán-Gil, FIAT/IFTA General Secretary, held a workshop at Televisión Metropolitana SA de CV Canal 22 for an exceptional group of archivists from different TV stations members of La Red de Medios Públicos de México.

While in Mexico, Virginia participated in an exchange with engineers and archivists organised by UNAM’s Instituto de Investigaciones Bibliotecológicas y de la Información and Secretaría de Postgrado e Investigación. One topic discussed was the use of AI to improve access to audiovisual archives.

Virginia also contributed during the  XXXVII Asamblea de Red México in Aguascalientes, where she defended the importance of the digital transformation of the TV and radio archives to preserve the national memory and inspire the production of new content.

FIAT/IFTA believes establishing collaboration opportunities with other professionals from the Latin American community is a priority. We hope this relationship will be lasting; we look forward to working with LATAM archives!
