“Save your Archive” is a program of FIAT/IFTA launched at the 2012 World Conference in London. Its key purpose is to promote the safeguarding of vulnerable or at-risk audiovisual archives by providing a small fund to support one or more well defined projects, focused on preservation, digitization and valorization of archival content, each year.
With every passing year archives are being lost. Natural disasters, war , conflict , and silent decay are an everyday reality for audiovisual archives in many parts of the world - keeping the focus on this issue is a major objective of FIAT/IFTA and it wishes to work together with others who share this objective in their industry, missions and business.
The Friends of Save Your Archives is a new iteration of the program which brings industry and the FIAT/IFTA community together for the first time :
helping focus efforts in raising awareness,
stimulating innovation to find good solutions,
bringing industry and regions where needs are great closer together,
supporting new projects and funding initiatives.
The Friends of Save your Archive will launch the call for projects in early 2018. The call will be based on the partners company offer of support, and will be managed by FIAT/IFTA.
We aim to have a range of complimentary offers to create a broad range of supports for different archives in need and to build on the model of Save Your Archive program to date.
The new guidelines of the program will be published soon.
