FIAT/IFTA Timeline-survey 2020: results available
What is the status of cloud storage in television archives? How big is the share of media archives worldwide embarking on a streetcar named AI? To which extent could media archivists continue their work from home during the covid19 crisis? How far are media archives worldwide with their digitisation programmes? And how did covid19 influence the opinion of content managers when it comes to online access?
The results of the 2020 edition of the FIAT/IFTA ‘Where are you on the Timeline Survey’ are published. This survey measures each year where audiovisual archives managing broadcast collections are on their journey to become a fully digital archive. 79 unique responses came in from all over the world. The results premièred during the IASA – FIAT/IFTA Joint Conference 2020 held online on 26-29 October and now they’re freely available here.
This year the answers came from the following regions :
- Africa: 3,75%
- Asia: 12,50%
- Europe : 58,75%
- Latin-America: 13,75%
- North-America: 8,75%
- Oceania: 2,50%
Once again, the results of the survey provide meaningful insight in the constant transformation that media archives are in. For FIAT/IFTA the survey results are helpful to keep track of the challenges the members are confronted with. This way FIAT/IFTA provides its members and audiovisual archiving stakeholders worldwide with relevant information and content on FIAT/IFTA events.
