FIAT/IFTA in Florence 1998

At the end of September we will all meet in Florence for the annual Conference and for the XII FIAT/IFTA General Assembly.

I really hope that you have received the second edition of the booklet, with the remarkable programme of the conference and general information.

Florence is waiting for YOU!!!

You will live history and art, with a great opportunity to visit famous museums, buildings, churches, monuments; a big plunge into the past, looking at the future from a gorgeous town.

In RAI we have been, and are still doing our best to prepare a comfortable stay, so that you can say "I WAS THERE".

The FIAT/IFTA Conference and General Assembly will take place in one of the most important hotels downtown and a particular session will be held in the exciting and magnificent "Salone del Cinquecento" in Palazzo Vecchio, where we will admire one of the most beautiful masterpieces of the renaissance. You will have also the possibility of visiting the "Coridoio Vasariano" and other monuments.

The programme of the conference will bring to you many professional fields with a very high level speakers and lectures.

I'm also sure that the General Assembly will give us a great opportunity to discuss our Federation, its organisation and future development and life. We will also elect new members to the Board, the Board that will bring FIAT/IFTA into the new millennium, with a lot of good proposals and goals. The organisers apologise if something will not be as you expected, but that is because we have broken FIAT/IFTA records: up to 18 August we had more than 245 participants booked, plus 35 accompanying persons, coming from 37 countries, representing 96 companies, and more arrivals have been announced.

The success has gone beyond every expectation of FIAT/IFTA and RAI.

FIAT/IFTA is really a great Federation and Florence a very attractive place!!

Unfortunately we have some problems with hotels and lodgings in order to satisfy all your requests; we are now looking for more rooms but that is a very great problem.

A very important recommendation to the speakers and moderators of the sessions: PLEASE SEND ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE ALL YOUR PAPERS SO THAT WE CAN PREPARE A SPECIAL EDITION TO BE PUBLISHED AND DISTRIBUTED TO THE PARTICIPANTS BEFORE THE CONFERENCE.

For now, I thank you for your participtation and on behalf of Dr. Roberto Zaccaria (President of RAI), Dr. Pier Luigi Celli (General Manager of RAI), Dr.ssa Barbara Scaramucci (Manager of Audiovideoteche and Education at RAI) and Dr. Angelo Sferrazza (Deputy Manager of Audiovideoteche and Education at RAI) I welcome you to Florence.

Vittorio Sette
