Survey on multimedia projects

On Sunday the 7th of September, during our Open Meeting in Budapest, the Documentation Commission will officially present a survey of research projects in the field of documentary description and indexing of multimedia and audio-visual documents in archives.

The survey is a co-production of the Documentation Commission and the TNO Centre for Technology and Policy Studies, a research bureau in The Hague, Holland. The aim of the survey is to provide FIAT/IFTA members with a general overview of what is going on in this field at the moment, to point out problems and to lay the foundation for formulating research priorities in developing (digital) archives for digital audio-visual documents and multimedia documents. The survey will also include practical information, such as addresses of project managers, e-mail addresses etc. In this way the survey will be of immediate practical interest to members of FIAT/IFTA. If you cannot attend the Open Meeting in Budapest you can obtain a copy of the survey during the Conference. If you are not attending the Conference, a copy of the survey will be sent to you at a later time.
